The Secret Behind a High-Quality Grinding Bristle
You might think grinding bristles are just a mix of abrasive material and nylon.
As a manufacturer with over 20 years of expertise, we’re revealing the hidden process behind every premium grinding bristle.
🔍 Step 1: Precision Raw Material Sourcing
It all starts at the source.
We select premium nylon from world-leading suppliers: DuPont (USA), BASF (Germany), Sinopec (China).
Colorization uses imported Clariant pigment powder.
For abrasives: Black silicon carbide undergoes multi-stage processing — crushing, ball milling, sand formation, acid washing, and water rinsing — to ensure uniform grain size and high purity.
⚖️ Step 2: Exact Abrasive-to-Nylon Ratio
The abrasive-to-nylon ratio is a core technological secret.
Too low → insufficient cutting power.
Too high → brittleness and breakage.
Using a twin-screw extruder with precise temperature control (250–270°C) and high-shear mixing, we ensure uniform dispersion of abrasive particles in the nylon matrix.

🪄 Step 3: Extrusion & Initial Formation
The molten mixture is extruded through a die with precise hole diameter to form the primary fiber.
Key: Control over extrusion speed and cooling rate directly affects fiber roundness and diameter uniformity.
🔁 Step 4: Heat Drawing & Molecular Alignment
The pre-formed fiber undergoes multiple stages of thermal drawing.
This aligns polymer chains, dramatically improving strength, wear resistance, and durability.
Final mechanical properties are determined by the perfect balance of draw ratio, temperature, and speed.
🛡️ Step 5: Functional Surface Coating
Custom treatments based on customer needs:
• Anti-static | • Antibacterial | • Flame retardant
High-end products may include surface coating to increase abrasive retention.
🌀 Step 6: High-Accuracy Winding
Wound via spindle or disc packaging, ensuring neat bundle, uniform tension — ready for downstream brush manufacturing.
✅ Quality Control: 20+ Inspection Steps
- In-line diameter monitoring (±0.01 mm accuracy)
- Random abrasive content testing (chemical analysis)
- Tensile strength test (≥ 50 N/mm²)
- Bend recovery test (per ISO 9352 standard)
A qualified grinding bristle undergoes more than 20 inspection stages from raw material to final product.
Only a manufacturer with a robust QC system can guarantee batch consistency.
